Board Approves TV Facilities Upgrade
In early February, the Truman Board of Governors approved funding
to upgrade television facilities operated by the department of
communication. The new facility, which is part of the Barnett Hall
renovation project, replaces a studio and control room in the Kirk building
that had not been upgraded for some years. Digital cameras and the
associated processing equipment in the studio/control room set-up will allow
students to learn and work with equipment found in commercial settings.
The changeover is particularly important because the nation will officially
convert to digital television signals in February 2009.
A consulting engineer has been hired to acquire equipment vendors and oversee the project to its completion. Students in coursework and News 36, the Truman Media Network TV news channel, will benefit from the new studio.
