Detours
Detours is a Midwest travel magazine featuring unique
faces and places in Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. Produced by students at
Truman State University, Detours is published twice a year in the winter and
summer. Each issue highlights colorful characters and one-of-a-kind locales
off the beaten path. Detours has won an Apple Award for Best Collegiate
General Interest Magazine in 2006 and 2007 from the College Media Advisers
organization. But the awards don't stop there. Detours won a

will begin broadcasting in HD, the new digital standard under adoption by

specialty shows in the evening. Regular news and sports broadcasts cover
world and national news while emphasizing campus news. In addition, campus

broadcasts air every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. during the semester. Truman students can watch the
newscast on cable channel 36 with replays on the local cable system. The staff uses the best equipment available,
including Avid digital editing equipment and new Cannon XL2 cameras. News 36

viewers the latest news from Truman to the national level.

Truman Media Network
Truman student media come together in a convergence medium, the
Truman Media Network, to determine
how to best tell stories, especially "big" stories. Because media
consumers access information from various media (TV, radio, print,
Internet), TMN is a "real world" learning lab that mirrors industry
movement to telling stories on multiple media platforms. In the
past two years, KTRM, NEWS 36, and the Index, under the TMN umbrella,
have come together to report Missouri elections and the 2008 Iowa
caucuses.
