What attracted you to Truman?
Truman was the perfect size and distance from home for me. I knew I wanted to go to a liberal arts college and all the other campuses I visited were too small for me. Here I know all my professors, but the school is still large enough I can successfully avoid ex-girlfriends or people to whom I may owe money.
What do you like best about Truman?
I love the relationships I am able to build with my professors. Going to classes is a lot easier if you know that your professor knows who you are.
What has surprised you about Truman?
I thought Kirksville would be a ghost town on the weekends, but I was surprised to find that there are actually things to do and places to go if you look hard enough and are willing to step a little outside your comfort zone.
What do you like most about your classes?
I like that everyone seems to generally want to learn. I tried hard to make it look like I didn’t care about class in high school because that was lame, but at Truman we all accept that learning is interesting and we are all a bit nerdy.
What do you feel is unique about Truman?
The price. There are other schools that offer the class size, course catalogue, and campus environment that Truman offers, but they do it at twice the cost.
What do you do for fun in Kirksville?
Two words: Hidden. Treasures. There is a giant consignment shop on the square and it has everything you could ever want. Well, that might be a little broad. It has clothes, antiques, and odds/ends. If those things are the only things you will ever want, then if has everything you could ever want.
